Melku Gebrekristos – Laza Food & Beverages

In 2009, Melku Gebrekristos started Laza Food & Beverages as a caterer of Eritrean and Ethiopian cuisine. Today, the Guelph-based business has grown into a wide-reaching enterprise, including providing cooking classes, a monthly buffet, and a weekly breakfast stall in the Guelph Farmer’s Market. Proving to be a popular item, their Hibiscus Tea beverage has been expanded into the retail market, with 23 locations providing the drink from Kitchener to Toronto.

Laza continues to grow. Despite the demands of running a business, Melku and Laza have still been able to donate time and resources to many of our valuable local organizations including Women in Crisis and the Guelph-Wellington, and the Eritrean Canadian Community.
