GWLIP and County of Wellington Launch Global Talent Initiative
April 24, 2015
Are you a business owner or employer who is concerned about workforce and skills challenges, whether current or future? The new Global Talent Initiative (GTI) may be able to support you in building a diverse and competitive workplace.
The Guelph Wellington Local Immigration Partnership (GWLIP) created the GTI (through its Meaningful Employment Action Committee) to reach out to businesses experiencing workforce challenges. In early 2015, the County of Wellington’s economic development department received funding from the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affair’s Rural Economic Development Fund to implement the project in partnership with the City of Guelph’s economic development department and the GWLIP.
The GTI aims to connect with 30-50 businesses over the year. It will raise awareness about the importance of hiring immigrants, and provide tips on recruitment, retention, and how to leverage the immigration system.
