Designed to bring together longtime residents and newcomers alike\, this drop-in session invites participants to explore the unifying power of art through hands-on creativity. Guided by Lachowsky\, you’ll experiment with a variety of artmaking techniques while reflecting on the symbol of the tree – a powerful metaphor for connection\, growth\, and setting down roots in a new place. Whether you’re new to Guelph or have called it home forever\, this workshop offers a space to share stories\, make art\, and build community. Welcoming Week is a global annual campaign that connects neighbours of all backgrounds through community activities and events\, reaffirming welcoming values\, fostering a mutual understanding between immigrants and non-immigrants\, and building a deeper sense of belonging for Newcomers and all. About the Artist: Taras Lachowsky is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is deeply rooted in his Ukrainian heritage and community engagement.
