New Video Brings the World to You

June 5, 2014

The GWLIP was pleased to collaborate this past winter with Immigrant Services Guelph Wellington (ISGW) on the World Next Door, a special event held for the first time on March 29 at Sir Isaac Brock Public School in Guelph’s south end. The turnout was spectacular and brought neighbours young and old together to celebrate diversity.

For this event, GWLIP members chose to organize a video activity that would encourage conversations about cultural differences and similarities.

Participants were asked to reflect on three questions and then were invited to hang a wish on the Wish Tree and speak on camera. The questions were:

What does family mean to you or your culture?
What do you wish people knew about your culture?
What conversations do you wish families could have?

The video was launched in June 2014!

You can now watch this heart-warming collection of community members’ thoughts about the importance of family, of bringing generations together, and of intercultural understanding.

Let’s keep the conversation going! Share the video with friends, family, and colleagues. Let us know what you think of the video and how you’ve used it. Contact Ella Henderson at 519-822-1260 x2565, ella.henderson@guelph.ca.
